The problem

A generator or consumer wanting ISTS connectivity faces a simple set of questions: where is headroom still real, who is already ahead of me, and when does the door close? The answers all exist in public filings, and none of them are usable:

• Margins sit in PDF annexures per substation, split into solar and non-solar hours, with no combined view and no history — a single edition, impossible to trend.
• The queue is published as a size, not an order. 1,414 applications are in the pipeline (345 GW) with no way to see position, and 44 of the 75 pressured nodes are already shut by margin or queue — facts a first-time applicant discovers late.
• Grant dates move between editions. The median slip across the seven-edition archive is 123 days, which quietly invalidates every plan built on stated dates.
• Construction reality lives in yet another register. A queue position held by a project that is not being built is a different animal from one that is, and nothing official joins the two.

So the industry plans the way it always has: consultants compile by hand and go stale, developers file into nodes that are already oversubscribed, and financiers underwrite timing they cannot check. Months of application cycles and locked collateral are spent learning what the filings already said.

Why we built it

Because the questions are answerable. CTUIL and CEA file the raw material every month — margins, grants, queues, revocations, construction — and the insight everyone wants is never stated in any single document. It has to be assembled. This started as a spreadsheet that got out of hand; it is now a pipeline that joins 24 datasets grant-by-grant, checks itself against 47 automated reconciliations, and refuses to print a number it cannot trace. Every figure on this site has a paper trail; the verification ledger in the header is not decoration.

What we will not do

Some numbers do not exist, and we would rather say so than manufacture them. The register publishes queue sizes but no queue order, so there is no rank here. Solar-hour and non-solar-hour margins are separate physical quantities, so they are never summed into one comfortable figure. A blank is kept as a blank, never displayed as zero. These standing rules cost us easy headlines and buy us the only thing worth having in this business: being quotable.

Everything here is derived, aggregated analysis of the published filings, with attribution, compiled for professional reference. No sheet is reproduced as filed, and if the rightsholder wants anything handled differently, write to us and it will be handled — the full position is in the Terms.

Who answers the email

A very small team, and yes, the address at the bottom of every page reaches a person. Corrections are announced in the monthly brief, never silently applied. If you find an error, we want it more than we want to be right.
